“Weddings can be expensive!” says wedding supply company
Midweek money-saving nuptials: More couples than ever are shunning weekend weddings to save cash on their big day
More couples than ever are cutting costs by having cheaper midweek weddings new figures have revealed.
A record one in three couples are spurning expensive weekend weddings, to save money by hosting their nuptials in the week when rates are generally cheaper.
The study, which questioned 500 modern brides found that the number of brides walking up the aisle on a Saturday or Sunday has fallen to 67 per cent of all weddings, while a further 15 per cent get married on a Friday.
It’s not the first time we’ve heard it said on this blog, but weddings can be pricey affairs. It’s also not the first time we’ve pointed out that, almost universally, the company pointing out how expensive weddings are is the very same company with a vested interest in promoting themselves as a way of cutting costs without compromising on quality:
A spokesman for Paper Themes said: ‘Wedding venues tend to be cheaper to hire throughout the week with many actually offering incentives to those open to a midweek wedding.
‘It suggests that the midweek wedding is here to stay, with popularity continuing.’
