“Ready meals are both handy and popular!” says makers of ready meals
One in six has never cooked a meal from scratch and use packets or jars of ingredients at least four times a week
When it comes to cooking it seems we are a nation of cheats.
One in six adults has never cooked a meal from scratch, according to a survey, and use packets or jars of ingredients to make evening meals at least four nights a week.
Two thirds of people admit they are more likely to reach for ready made options than fresh ingredients according to the survey of 2,000 adults by Co-operative Food.
It’s the rise of the ready meal, with so huge a percentage of the British population relying entirely on ready meals – ready meals a bit like those made by survey originators Co-op foods:
Andrew Mann, of Co-operative Food, which commissioned the study, said: ‘The research shows we’re a nation of makers and fakers when it comes to evening meals.
‘Who wants to always be spending hours in the kitchen cooking on a Saturday night when you could be settling down in the front of the TV with the family and enjoying X Factor?
‘Sometimes people just want something that’s easier and more convenient, knowing that the food you can get from a jar or a ready meal is often as good as the food you have spent hours putting together.’
Fear not for your food laziness, British populace, for Co-op are here to tell you that buying ready meals makes perfect sense, and that you can do so at your local Co-op.
