“All the cool people are getting divorced these days!” says divorce-specialist solicitors
Do men really get divorced because their friends in the pub are doing it?
Men can be talked into divorce by their male friends, according to a report.
While women make up their own minds on breaking up their marriage, men are likely to be swayed by talking in the pub to their separated pals.
Because men are so easily influenced, when one gets divorced it creates a ripple effect that undermines the marriages of his companions, the report said.
Which company thinks it’s a sensible idea to declare one half of the population to be ‘so easily influenced’ and to attempt to peer-pressure men into getting divorced?
The theory was put forward by a law firm following a survey that asked former couples why they had split up.
Christina Blacklaws, of The Co-operative Legal Services, said: ‘It’s human nature to look to others for reassurance when it comes to relationships.
‘When one couple splits up, others often notice the cracks in their own relationship, leading to a ripple effect throughout a social circle or family.’
Personally, if I need a solicitor in the future, I’ll know to avoid plumping for a law firm who portrays my entire gender as idiotic – but then, I’m easily-influenced by sexist, stereotype-laden bullshit in the news.
